Open for Business: Love for Pets

What do you provide? I offer 30-minute pet-care visits, 15-minute potty break and check-in visits, 30- or 60-minute midday dog walks, and “pet taxi” service to and from the groomer or vet.

What’s new? I officially “hung out the shingle” on May 1.

What makes your business special? I love animals and decided to turn my passion into a career. The slogan for my pet-sitting and dog-walking business is, “My care – at your home.”

Professional pet sitters provide pet owners a great option for pet care when travel or long work days keep them away from home.

Pets remain in their familiar environment, reducing stress, travel, trauma, and possible exposure to illness. Owners do not have to feel that they are burdening friends, family, or neighbors with the care of their pets.

An added comfort for the owner is that routine visits by a pet sitter help make their home appear more “lived in” while they are away.

Tell us a little about yourself: I’m owner Tammy Klingberg. I live in Dixon, and grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago. My husband, Mike, is employed by Rayovac in Dixon. His work relocated us to the Madison, Wis., area from 1988 to 2003, then brought us to Dixon. At that time, thoughts of starting a pet sitting business crossed my mind, but I instead pursued an accounting degree at Sauk Valley Community College.

I worked in the accounting department of Sauk Valley Media for 5 years, and in the spring of this year, decided it was time to fulfill my pet sitting dream. In my spare time, I enjoy travel, walking, hiking, and visiting with family and friends. I am a member of Christ our Savior Lutheran Church where I have served as the financial secretary for the past 3 years.

Mike and I have two awesome “kids,” our (elderly) Collie dogs, Saddie and Casey.
