Dixon Student of the Month

Senior Kaylie Ricks, 18, is Dixon High School’s April Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Karen and Dolph Ricks, and has a twin sister, Allie, and an older sister, Kelsi, 21.

Favorite class: My favorite class this semester is probably parenting. Karen Chamberlain is a great teacher, and she allows us to take little breaks and play games sometimes. We also get to tell personal stories, which are always hilarious.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
