Genevieve M. ‘Gen’ Wiersema-Richmond

MORRISON – Genevieve M. “Gen” Wiersema-Richmond, 84, of Morrison, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, Iowa.

She was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Newton Township, the daughter of Fred J. and Stella (VanOosten) VanZuiden. She married Paul “Slim” Wiersema on Sept. 24, 1948, in Morrison. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1990. She married Frank P. Richmond on June 13, 1991, in Morrison. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2001. Gen farmed with her first husband, Slim, in the Ustick Township area. She most recently was a sales clerk at the former Peterson Drug Store in Morrison. Gen was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison.

Survivors include two sisters, Henrietta “Mae” Johnson in Rockford and Marjorie Stichter in Rochelle; and one brother, Raymond (Virginia) VanZuiden of Morrison.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

The visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., Monday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, with Ken Renkes, director of congregational care at Ebenezer Reformed Church, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

A memorial has been established to Ebenezer Reformed Church.
