Alberta P. Showalter Wiseman

FRANKLIN GROVE – Alberta Pauline Showalter Wiseman, 94, of Franklin Grove, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Franklin Grove Nursing Center. She worked many years as a telephone operator and at Admiral in Dixon; and was the head cook at Franklin Grove Nursing Home for 17 years.

Alberta was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Beardstown, during their 100th celebration. She grew up in Virginia, Ill., with her parents, William Henry and Ida Mae (Douglas) Showalter. She married James Robert Wiseman, and they moved to Franklin Grove in 1938. Grandma Pene, as she was known by her family and friends, was an active member of Franklin Grove United Methodist Church. She helped with the Cross and Flame newsletter, Franklin Grove United Methodist Woman’s Circle and Franklin Grove Woman’s Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and was devoted to her family.

Survivors include one son, Donald (Frances) Wiseman, and two daughters, Shirley (Stan) Hann and Janet Logan, all of Franklin Grove; four grandsons, David (Linda) Wiseman, James (Roxy) Wiseman, Marty (Loretta) Logan and Steve (Mary) Hann; six granddaughters, Lori (Kevin) Anderson, Sandra (Kurt) Koepke, Deb (Tom) Mead, Julie Logan, Susie (Jerry) Murphy and Jeri Dempsey; 10 great-grandsons; 15 great-granddaughters; five great-great-grandsons; seven great-great-granddaughters; one sister, Betty Cox; three nieces, Jane Ramsey, Jean Moeller and Connie Watkins; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
