PROPHETSTOWN – Esther E. Rhodes, 84, of Prophetstown, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison. She was employed by Bennett in Peotone until retiring.

Esther was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Morrison, the daughter of Fred A. and Mamie M. (Moore) Eads. She was a member of Lyndon United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Diane (Jeff) Bass and Marjorie (Robert) Lindsay, both of Tampico, Susan (Larry) Bushman of Rock Falls and Barbara (Clarence) Maddox of Cincinnati; three sons, Chuck (Deb) McKenna of Rock Falls, Leroy McKenna of DeKalb and Jerry McKenna of Tampico; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Bowen of Lyndon and Betty (Robert) Truckenmiller of Prophetstown; and one brother, James W. (Shirly) Eads of Prophetstown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Linda McKenna and Joyce Thompson; one son, Raymond McKenna; and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:30 a.m., today at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown, with the Rev. Rolland Hayag, pastor of Lyndon United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park Cemetery in Sterling.
