John G. ‘Dutch’ Bushman
ROCK FALLS – John G. “Dutch” Bushman, 82, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Transitions Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Rock Falls. He was a custodian for District 13 Schools at Merrill School and Rock Falls Junior High School; and later worked for 8 years at Tri-County as an Illinois Home Energy Assistance Program assistant.
He was born July 26, 1929, in Sterling, the son of John L. and Ellen (Welker) Bushman. He was united in marriage to Betty Tintori on June 10, 1950, in Sterling. Dutch was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. He played the drums with the bands Misfits and Eddie Crow. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.
Surviving are his wife, Betty, of Rock Falls; his children, Larry (Sue) Bushman of Rock Falls, Jackie (Kevin) Wolf of Galt, Judy Bushman, John (Rose) Bushman and Jim Bushman, all of Rock Falls, Michael (Druann) Bushman of Sterling and Ralph Bushman of Rock Falls; 12 grandchildren, Tammie (Hootie) Wyatt of Galt, Joshua (Carrie) Bushman of Milan, Marty (Heather) Cernich of Rock Falls, Rebecca (Brian) Garland of Sterling, Mandy (Sean) Anderson of Rochester, Minn., Jason (Carrie) Wolf, Jeremy (Rebecca) Wolf and Kayla (Jason) Fargher, all of Sterling, Michael (Linnea) Bushman of Loves Park, Derek Bushman of Sterling, Justin Bushman of Rock Falls and Jessica Bushman of Galva; 17 great-grandchildren, Joseph Wyatt, Brandon Wyatt, Cadence Bushman, Peyton Bushman, Austin Cernich, Emma Cernich, Adrienne Anderson, Regan Anderson, Madelyn Anderson, Dylan Garland, Andrew Garland, Devin Fargher, Jarrett Fargher, Kadin Wolf, Kailey Wolf, Eva Bushman and Brady Wolf; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Francis Bushman; a sister, Nellie Williamson; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Brian Bushman.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a wake service at 4:45 p.m., Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak, celebrant, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service.
