March Amboy Student of Month
Senior Derek Henkel, 18, of Sublette, is Amboy High School’s March Student of the Month. He is the son of Tammy, 48, and Mark Henkel, 49, and his brothers are Chad, 20, and Austin, 15.
Favorite class: Accounting, because it is the interest I have for a career.
Extracurriculars: Cross country, basketball, track, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, 4-H, and I usher at church.
What is the key to surviving high school? Finish your homework and turn it in on time.
After graduation: I’m going to St. Ambrose University to major in accounting.
I’m in the dictionary next to: Dependable, because I can accept responsibility and follow through with tasks that I’m asked to do.
Paycheck: I work at Woodhaven Lakes.
Favorite movie: “Fast Five”
Favorite TV show: “Big Bang Theory”
Favorite activities: Bike rides, musicals, track, farming and video games
Least favorite class: Any of the life sciences
Useless knowledge: Poetry and literature
Dream job: Accountant
Trading spaces: I would want to go London to see the Olympics.
