Sandra K. Payne

AMBOY – Sandra K. Payne, 62, of Amboy, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. She had worked as a dental assistant at the Amboy Dental Office from 1990 to 2005.

She was born July 30, 1949, in Dixon, the daughter of John “Purdue” and Darlene (Clark) Blackburn. She married Daniel F. Payne on Aug. 30, 1970, at St. Flannen Church in Harmon. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2008. Sandy was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy.

Survivors include her children, Chris (Kim) Payne of Sycamore, Lisa (Joel) Hochstatter and Scott (Kelly) Payne, both of Amboy, and Leann (Sean) Wagner of Dixon; eight grandchildren, Abigayle and Trey Payne, Jordan, Danielle, Jairon and Mylee Hochstatter, and Peyton and Brynleigh Payne; one sister, Donna (Dan) Etheridge of Amboy; two brothers, John (Sharon) Blackburn of Burlington, N.C., and Randy (Denise) Blackburn of Dixon; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Payne and Rita Dement; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sandi Reinhold of Dixon.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with the rosary recited at 7:30 p.m., Monday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

A memorial has been established.
