Duchesses win on soccer pitch
The Dixon girls soccer team ventured to Ottawa on Tuesday and posted a 2-1 victory.
Kayla Wilson scored the first goal for the Duchesses (5-2, 1-1 Northern Illinois Big 12 West), with an assist from Sierra Wiseman. Allison DeArvil scored the game-winner.
Boys track & field
Dixon 99, Ottawa 42: The Dukes won 16 of 18 events, including all four relays, and rolled to a dual-meet victory at A.C. Bowers Field.
Double-winners for the Dukes were J.D. Gieson in the 100 hurdles (16.72 seconds) and 300 hurdles (43.08), Alex LaMendola in the 100 (11.26) and 400 (54.37) and Jon Shippert in the shot put (48 feet, 4 1/2 inches) and discus (148-2).
Sterling 122, Streator 18: The Golden Warriors won 15 events and all the relay races in a lopsided dual meet victory at DuWayne Dietz Track.
Michael Schneiderbauer led Sterling with four wins: the pole vault (12-9), the triple jump (39-10), the 110 hurdles (15.03) and the 300 hurdles (42.40). Jordan Neal added two wins, taking the shot put (42-10) and discus (125-0).
BV wins in Princeton: The Storm won seven events and scored 134 points to nip the host Tigers by three at the Howard-Monier Invite.
Derrick Johnson won three individual events and ran a leg on a winning relay team for BV, and Adam Weidner won the shot put (53-7) and discus (141-0). Johnson won the 800 (2:05.12), 1,600 (4:44.76) and 3,200 (10:39.80) and also took part in the 1,600 relay (3:36.53). The Storm also won the 3,200 relay (9:20.25).
Girls track & field
Sterling 121, Streator 21: The Golden Warriors won 16 events, including all four relays, to rout the Bulldogs in a dual meet at DuWayne Dietz Track.
Madeleine Sheley, Charli Wike and Cori DeLapo all won twice for Sterling. Sheley won the pole vault (9-9) and triple jump (29-7 1/2), Wike won the long jump (14-11) and 800 (2:38.73), and DeLapo won the shot put (31-7) and discus (90-3).
