Francis A. Corbin
PROPHETSTOWN – Francis Austin Corbin, 91, of 108 Grove St., Prophetstown, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He worked in the Prophetstown streets and sewer department, retiring in 1986.
Francis was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Low Gap, Ky., the son of Thomas J. and Golon (Williams) Corbin. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He married Gertrude Goodin on July 29, 1945, in Garland, Ky. She preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 1994. Austin was a member of the former Church of Christ of Prophetstown.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Corbin of Linden, Wis., and Robbin (Michael) Blackert of Prophetstown; three sons, Daniel (Linda Sue) Corbin of Killeen, Texas, Carl (Jenny) Corbin of Brodhead, Wis., and Clare (Darla) Corbin of Prophetstown; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
