Joseph H. Engles

DIXON – Joseph H. Engles, 90, of Dixon, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Liberty Court Assisted Living in Dixon. He retired from Commonwealth Edison after 35 years of service.

He was born March 16, 1922, in Lanark, the son of Clifford and Lillian (Stitzel) Engles. He married Hazel O’Brien on Oct. 27, 1964, in Dixon. She preceded him in death on Nov. 19, 2008.

He is survived by daughters, Mary (Harold) Garber of Polo, Alana (Darwin) O’Riley of Orlando, Fla., and Betty Richards of Nevada, Texas; sons, Paul Busser of Polo and Charles Kreger of Nevada, Texas; a sister, Donna Kloepping of Lanark; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson; a sister, Mildred Frederick; and brothers, Alan and Francis “Chick” Engles.

The visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., Monday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Stan Rodabaugh of Dixon officiating. Entombment will be at Briarwood Mausoleum in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon or Dixon Ladies of the Moose.
