Health on mind of Comets, Cougars
STERLING – While winning was important in Friday’s contest between the Newman Comets and the Eastland Cougars, staying healthy was paramount for the small-school softball teams.
The success in that major issue was only mild in the Cougars’ 7-4 win on a cool, cloudy afternoon.
“Welcome to small-school softball,” Eastland coach Doug Johnson said. “We just don’t have the numbers out that we can afford any injuries.”
