IU beats third top-5 team; UW survives

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Cody Zeller scored 18 points and Victor Oladipo added 13, leading No. 18 Indiana past No. 5 Michigan State 70-55 on Tuesday night, the Hoosiers’ third victory over a top five team this season.

Indiana (22-7, 10-7 Big Ten) is the second team to achieve that feat this season, joining Kansas.

Michigan State (24-6, 13-4) can still win the outright Big Ten crown with a victory over No. 10 Ohio State on Sunday.

Indiana jumped out to an 18-8 lead.

It looked like the Spartans would challenge when Draymond Green scored six points in a 10-0 run to get the Spartans within 43-37 with 15:47 left in the game.

But Indiana answered and built a 51-40 lead.

It was Indiana coach Tom Crean’s first win over Tom Izzo, his former boss at Michigan State.

No. 14 Wisconsin 52, Minnesota 45: Jordan Taylor scored 22 points to lead No. 14 Wisconsin to a 52-45 victory over Minnesota on Tuesday night that clinched a first-round bye in the Big Ten tournament for the Badgers.

The Badgers (22-8, 11-6 Big Ten) opened the second half on a 16-4 run and pushed the lead to 44-34 with just under 7 minutes to go on consecutive 3s.

Andre Hollins led the Gophers (17-13, 5-12) with 18 points.
