Whiteside County spelling bee Monday in Morrison

MORRISON – The Whiteside County Spelling Bee will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at Morrison Junior High School, 305 E. Winfield St. Admission is free.

The winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to National Harbor, Md., to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee at the end of May.

The winner also will get a Webster’s Third New International Dictionary and its Addenda Section, the Samuel Louis Sugarman Award, which is a $100 U.S. savings bond, and a 1-year subscription to Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Second place comes with the dictionary, a $20 Amazon.com gift certificate, and the Encyclopaedia Britannica subscription; third-place prizes are a Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, the Amazon.com gift certificate and the subscription; and fourth-place prizes are the Collegiate Dictionary and a $10 Amazon.com gift certificate.
