DIXON – A Dixon man already on probation in a drug case is back in the Lee County Jail after police say he sold less than a gram of heroin to an informant in January.

Curt M. Cheffer, 25, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance.

Cheffer, being held on $75,000 bond, has a preliminary hearing March 7.

Cheffer was arrested Tuesday in the 500 block of West First Street, police said Friday in a news release.

According to police, Cheffer sold about $60 worth of heroin to an informant Jan. 1.

The sale occurred within 1,000 feet of Dixon High School, according to police.

More arrests are pending, according to police.

In August, Cheffer was given 18 months conditional discharge after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance.

He also has a 2007 conviction for possession of a controlled substance in Ogle County.
