Learn to be a severe weather spotter
DIXON – The Lee County Office of Emergency Management is offering weather spotter training at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Sauk Valley Community College room 1K4, on the west end of campus.
The training is free; registration is not required.
A National Weather Service representative will teach the 90-minute class, which will consist of a slide and video program about severe storm structure, how to identify cloud features and other environmental clues to identify storms and tornadoes.
It is open to anyone interested in weather, including industry safety team representatives. Whether you work in a factory, on a farm, out in the yard, or play on a sports field or golf course, this class could provide you with life-saving information, organizers say.
Contact the Lee County Emergency Management Office, esda@countyoflee.org or 815-284-3365, for more information.
