DIXON – Dillman’s Creative Arts Foundation of Lac du Flambeau, Wis., and The Next Picture Show are partnering for a second year to bring free art demonstrations to artists and others in the Dixon area.

The Mid Winter Festivals of Artists will be held March 5 at the downtown gallery, 113 W. First St.

For 35 years, DCAF has organized free Mid Winter Festivals of Artists across the country, to offer potential students the opportunity to meet instructors who teach in oil, watercolor, pastel, music, writing, music and quilting workshops in northern Wisconsin.

There will be hourlong demonstrations by well-known artists, sales of original and reproduction artworks, plus books and videos by internationally known artists; information on resources for artists, refreshments, art supplies and door prizes.

Expect one or more demonstration and/or critiques each hour, from 4 to 6 p.m. The schedule, which is subject to change, is:

– 4 p.m.: Watercolor artist Tom Linden, of Rockford, “Dramatic Landscapes”; and Diana Garrett, of Chicago, Sanford Prisma Color product representative.

– 5 p.m.: David R. Becker, of Chicago, “The Most Important Watercolor Workshop You Will Ever Take” and watercolor artist Jan Boelte, of Clifton, “Creating Textures for Success.”

– 6 p.m.: Watercolor artist Ingrid Dohm, of Rockford, “Loose and Fresh Florals.”

Ongoing activities will include Frank LaLumia, of Trinidad, Colo., with a DVD titled “Plein Air Oil Painting: The American Landscape.”
