VIRDEN (AP) — Police say a 10-year-old southwestern Illinois boy found with marijuana at school won't be charged.

The (Alton) Telegraph (http://bit.ly/yTBIQN) reports the fifth-grader was found with the drug Wednesday at Virden Elementary School.

Virden Police Chief Scott Mayeda says the boy was released to one of his parents, and charges aren't expected.

North Mac School District Superintendent Marlene Brady isn't saying whether the school system plans any disciplinary action against the student.

She says administrators have not had previous problems with the boy.
