BUFFALO (AP) — Two women accused of accidentally leaving a 3-year-old boy on a school bus in central Illinois have been indicted by a grand jury and fired from their jobs with the local school district.

The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reported Thursday (http://bit.ly/z2SoWL) that one of the women was working as a bus driver and the other as a bus monitor. They are charged with misdemeanor counts of endangering the life and health of a child.

Police say the boy fell asleep on the bus on Jan. 4 and was left behind in the Tri-City School District's bus barn in the village of Buffalo. He eventually walked from the bus to nearby Tri-City Elementary School. Police say he was not injured.

The two women are to appear before a judge on Feb. 14.
