CLINTON, Iowa – Harvey “Bud” Ware, 87, of Clinton, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton. He was employed by Sherwin-Williams paint store for 25 years.

Harvey was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Mobile, Ala., the son of Frank and Janna (Pluister) Ware. He was a 1942 graduate of Dixon High School. Harvey then attended Cornell College for one year. From 1942 through 1946, Harvey was a World War II veteran and served in the Navy as a pilot. He married Joan Hubbard on Feb. 6, 1947, in Sterling. She preceded him in death. He later married Joyce Oster in 1992.

Harvey was a member of many organizations including Lions Club, Golden Kiwanis Club and Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the Methodist church. Harvey participated in several blood drives. He also coached his son in baseball. Overall, Harvey was a vibrant and positive, outgoing person and a loving father and grandfather.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Joyce of Thomasville, Ga.; three daughters, Carol (Tom) Sylthe of Elgin, Paula (Paul) Novak of West Chicago and Brenda (Jeff) Stombres of Plainfield; one son, Craig (Linda) Ware of Fulton; and six grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Edward; two sisters; and two brothers.

Cremation rights have been accorded. Private services have taken place. Arrangements were completed by Lemke Funeral Homes in Clinton.
