MOUNT CARROLL – Marian Sikkema, 80, of Mount Carroll, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. She worked at Sterling Steel Ball for 32 years.

Marian was born May 23, 1931, in Prophetstown, the daughter of Charles and Julia (Covel) Karn. She married Gaylord Sikkema on April 20, 1984, in Sterling. He died Oct. 31, 2006.

Survivors include one son, Aldis (Dawn) Siperly III of Sterling; one sister, Marjorie Ridenour of Moline; one stepdaughter, Linda Cunningham of Mount Carroll; one stepson, Ned (Carol) Sikkema of Dixon; one brother, Merle (Karna) Karn of Moline; two sisters-in-law, Betty Karn of Silvis and Wilma Karn of Prophetstown; one grandchild, Nikki Dawn Hughes; one great-grandchild; and numerous stepgrandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Carroll, Roland, Donald and Kenneth Karn.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of her life will be at a later date. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls.
