MOUNT MORRIS – Glenn W. Springer, 94, of Mount Morris, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Pinecrest Village in Mount Morris. He was a pressman at Kable Printing Company, retiring in 1978 after 38 years.

He was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Lincoln Township, Ogle County, the son of John W. and Ella (Garkey) Springer. He married Bernice E. Shank on Oct. 7, 1939, in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 2006. Glenn served in the Army during World War II. He also served as an auxiliary military police officer in the Army for 15 months at Green River Ordnance Plant.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Gladys Springer; and a nephew.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ross Springer and Floyd Holland; and sister, Ada Keller.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., Monday at Finch Funeral Home in Mount Morris, with the Rev. Doc Newcomb officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Morris.

Memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Hospice and Home and Mount Morris Fire Department.
