CHICAGO (AP) — A judge says a teenager who failed to apologize to a couple he seriously injured in a car accident doesn't deserve a trip to the Grammy Awards.

The Chicago Tribune reports that (http://trib.in/yN71cX ) the judge on Monday denied a request from 19-year-old Raihan "Ray" Sayeed to attend Sunday's awards ceremony in California.

The judge noted that the Frankfort teen hadn't apologized to Marybeth and Gerald Ryan of Downer's Grove for the 2009 accident, despite being ordered to do so when he was sentenced to probation in November. Sayeed faced up to three years in prison before pleading guilty to reckless driving.

He ran a stop sign and hit the Ryan's car, causing it to roll three times. The Ryans suffered broken bones and Marybeth Ryan had a lacerated liver and a partially severed tongue.
