SPRINGFIELD – Families and individuals who contributed time and effort to the Very Important Pork Promoters awards program of Illinois Pork Producers Association were recognized Jan. 31 at the Illinois Pork Expo annual banquet at Four Points by Sheraton Hotels in Peoria.

The Illinois Pork Producer Family of the Year was awarded to the Scholl family of Polo. Family members are LaVerne, Irv, Brent, Kathy, Samantha, Garrett, Bruce, Julie, Matt and Scott. Brent and Bruce are fifth-generation farmers.

The Scholls have a diversified grain and livestock farm in Lee and Ogle counties where they raise corn, soybeans, hogs, cattle and sheep.

The family have been active in all aspects of the pork producer organization including the county, state and national levels.

Winners were nominated by county organizations and other pork producers and selected by a committee of producers.

The award is sponsored by Elanco Animal Health.
