Polo advances at Erie

Ashley Haye scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Polo to a 53-43 victory over AFC in a first-round game at the Class 1A Erie Regional on Monday.

Also for the Marcos (11-15), Aleetra Robeerts grabbed 13 boards and scored 11 points and Alina Llanas added 11 points. Polo will take on Erie at 8:10 p.m. today.

Kristen Dillon scored 19 points to pace AFC (4-19).

Fulton 42, Milledgeville 29: Samantha Raab paced a balanced attack with 11 points to lead the Steamers past the Missiles at Erie.

Also for Fulton (11-17), Morgan Sanquist had 10 points, Katherine Wayne had nine and Morgan Wierema added eight. The Steamers take on Prophetstown tonight.

Brandie Gelwicks scored 10 points to lead Milledgeville (5-20).

1A Eastland Regional

Eastland 40, Pearl City 37: Kayla Barnes scored 13 points and Abbey Grisham added eight as the Cougars edged the Wolves in Lanark.

Eastland (15-14) will take on Aquin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Jenna Canon led Pearl City (10-17) with 16 points and Ashley Cropper added 10.

2A Riverdale
Regional

Riverdale 78, West Carroll 33: Ieshia Larson scored 12 points for the Thunder (2-23) in a loss to the Rams in Port Byron.

Hannah Nimrick scored 23 points for Riverdale (23-5), Elle May had 19, Jess Corson had 13 and Taylor Mericle added 10. The Rams will take on Alleman at 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

2A Princeton
Regional

Hall 53, Bureau Valley 14: Erin Siltman scored three points for the Storm (1-30) in a loss to the Red Devils in Princeton.

Jaclyn scored 16 points and Kelle Nett added 12 for Hall, which takes on Kewanee at 8:10 p.m. today.


Boys basketball

Sterling Christian 78, East Moline Eagles 48: David Vroman scored 29 points to lead the Trojans to a win in Lyndon.

Also for Sterling Christian (17-5), Isaac Weber had 16 points and six rebounds, Adam Dettman had 13 points and four assists and Blake Hudson added 11 points.

Nathan Freeman led East Moline with 17 points.
