ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls Elementary School Board will decide Wednesday whether to sell working cash bonds for building projects.

The projects will not raise taxes for district residents, and the district now has no outstanding bonds, Superintendent Dan Arickx said.

The windows and boilers at Dillon and Merrrill elementary schools likely will be replaced, and the middle school’s boiler also might be replaced, Arickx said.

Three energy service companies have submitted proposals to increase energy efficiency.

The board will need 2 to 3 weeks to evaluate the proposals, and if one is accepted, work could be done this summer, said Arickx, who will make a recommendation to the board Feb. 22.

In the wake of annexing the Riverdale Elementary School District, the board also will vote on a staffing plan that would include a new second-grade and a new third-grade teacher next school year.

Riverdale’s five teachers will replace five retiring Rock Falls district teachers, Arickx said.
