Bankrupt state should cut back on charity cases

Poor, bankrupt Illinois. The politicians in charge are totally lacking in management ability. I think they seek advice from the government employees’ unions with whom they have a warm relationship.

The politicians would be much wiser to seek counseling from a successful business owner. The businessman might say that a bankrupt state should not be a charitable institution.

Medicaid should be ended. Free health care services overload the medical services, causing much higher prices for everyone else. There also should be no free health care services for the politicians and other government employees. They are paid enough to pay for their own health care.

With the financial problems in America today, and the bankrupt Illinois government, pensions for government employees should be ended. Their paychecks are big enough so they should manage their money any way they like.

Of course, the first thing that a bankrupt organization should do is reduce the number of people on the payroll. At the same time, all remaining people should get their paychecks reduced by 10 percent, as a start.

The Illinois politicians were foolish to contract with labor unions against the interests of the taxpayers. This may make it difficult for the politicians to cut costs, so they should repudiate labor union contracts. A lot of the problems were created by looking for the union employees’ votes.

Government employees having the right to vote is also a major problem. Government employees have a conflict of interest. They should not be allowed to vote. Would they vote for economy in government when it might mean the loss of their jobs?

Welfare people are in a similar situation. They, too, have a conflict of interest. They also have no interest in government economy. The enslaved taxpayers provide their free food, clothing and shelter.
