MONMOUTH (AP) — Authorities in western Illinois are investigating the death of a 75-year-old Monmouth woman who was struck by a vehicle while using her motorized wheelchair.

Police say Mabel Magnuson was crossing a street in the wheelchair at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when she was struck by a vehicle.

Monmouth Police Department Lt. Joe Switzer says at least one other vehicle swerved to avoid her before the accident happened.

Warren County Coroner William Underwood pronounced Magnuson dead about an hour later at OSF Holy Family Medical Center.
