Milledgeville knocks off Forreston; Oregon tops Amboy
The Milledgeville Missiles boys basketball team earned its first NUIC East win of the season, beating Forreston 49-45 on Tuesday in Milledgeville.
The Missiles (4-16, 1-7) jumped out to a 22-7 lead after one quarter and fended off a late comeback by the Cardinals (11-8, 6-2). The loss drops Forreston a game back in the loss column to both Aquin and Dakota in the conference race.
Jordan Harris led Milledgeville with 15 points. Kameron DawTyne and Kaleb Ebersole each added nine points.
Tanner Bronkema had 19 points for Forreston.
Riverdale 49, Morrison 49: The Mustangs stayed close to the Three Rivers-leading Riverdale Rams, but fell short of the upset in Morrison.
Bill Bos led Morrison (6-18, 3-8) with 18 points. Kyle Meurs added nine points.
Riverdale (18-2, 9-1) was led by Wes DeClercq’s 18 points.
Oregon 67, Amboy 34: Tim Smith scored 20 points, helping the Hawks jump out to a 39-12 lead by halftime against the Clippers at the Blackhawk Center.
Kyle Remrey had 12 points and Caleb Mowry had 10 for Oregon (10-13).
Michael Stephenitch had 12 points for Amboy (6-15).
West Carroll 53, Lena-Winslow 39: The Thunder trailed at halftime by two points, but outscored the Panthers 32-16 in the second half to pick up a win in Mount Carroll.
Eric Naples scored 20 points for West Carroll (20-3, 10-0 NUIC West). Brady Edwards added 15 points.
Sterling Christian 68, Rockford Fire 60: Aaron Clardie’s 19-point performance led five Trojans in double figures in a nonconference win in Lyndon.
David Vroman hit three 3-pointers and added 15 points for Sterling Christian (14-5). Adam Dettman and Blake Hudson tossed in 12 points apiece, while Isaac Weber contributed 10. Dettman also had 13 rebounds and six assists, with Weber pulling down 10 boards.
