MOUNT MORRIS – Katherine L. Miller, 92, a Mount Morris area resident since 1960, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in Mount Morris. Katherine was a nurse and a homemaker, while farming with her husband in the Sterling and Mount Morris area.

Katherine was born Sept. 14, 1919, in Galt, the daughter of John and Nellie (Killeen) Regan. She was a 1937 graduate of St. Mary High School in Sterling and a 1940 graduate of Sterling Public Hospital nurses training. Katherine married Kenneth L. Miller on Jan. 17, 1942, at St. Mary rectory in Sterling. She attended Mount Morris Church of the Brethren and was an avid reader and card player. 

Survivors include her sons, David Miller of Whitehall, Mont., Richard Miller and Kevin Miller, both of Oregon, and Jeffrey (Beatrice) Miller of Rockford; daughters, Joyce (Irvin) Toms and Barbara Ruther, both of Mount Morris; grandchildren, Angie (Eric) Dantz of Santee, Calif., Todd (Maria) Miller of San Diego, Andrea Hurd of Byron, Michelle (Brad) Orsted of Mount Morris, Josh Miller of Arizona and George Miller of Rockford; and great-grandchildren, Jessie and Bobby Dantz, Gabriella and Alexander Miller, Connor Hurd, CJ and Brian Ostrander and Addison Orsted.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Lynn in infancy; three brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday at Mount Morris Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Virginia Haney officiating. Burial will be at Plainview Cemetery in Mount Morris.

Memorial funds have been established to Serenity Hospice and Home and Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home.
