Students qualify for IMEA festival

SAVANNA – Three students from West Carroll High School were chosen to take part in the Illinois Music Educators Association All-State Music Festival Jan. 25-28 at the Peoria Civic Center.

Ben Rogers was chosen for Bass II Honors Chorus, while Andrew Watts was picked for Tenor II All-State Chorus. Allen Piper was selected for Euphonium All-State Band.

The students auditioned in October, and were chosen to participate in the IMEA District 8 Music Festivals in November.

Rogers also auditioned on “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and qualified to sing at one of the Illinois High School Association sports championship games.

Emily Nunemaker-Bressler is West Carroll High School’s band director, and Scott Mattison directs the choir.
