MORRISON – Vernon E. Tichler, 66, of 13204 Crosby Road, Morrison, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, Iowa. He was a special education teacher at Morrison School District Unit 6 for 35 years, retiring in 2000.

Vernon was born Nov. 30, 1945, in Morrison, the son of Donald L. and Esther B. (Huizenga) Tichler. He married Barbara Anderson on Dec. 19, 1970, in Morrison.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Elizabeth Tichler of Dillon, Colo.; one son, Don (Elisha O’Neal) Tichler of Morrison; two grandchildren; one sister, Donna (Rod) McCanse of Dowagiac, Mich.; and one brother, Gary (Ruth) Tichler of Morrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., Saturday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, with Ken Renkes, director of congregational care at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

Memorial funds have been established.
