Nelly’s Echo to perform at SVCC

DIXON – Black History Month events are scheduled for February at Sauk Valley Community College, 173 state Route 2.

Nelly’s Echo, featuring Nelson Emokpae of Nigeria, known as “Nelly,” will give a free performance from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in SVCC’s east mall. The concert will focus on his background and life experiences, including blues, reggae and soul music.

Lenie Adolphson, an instructor at the college, will present “From the Past to the Future” at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 1K4. This black history program will include traditional African-American music, pictures, the history of slavery and the civil rights movement.
