OREGON – An Oregon man, sentenced last month to 19 years in prison for an armed robbery in Dixon, was sentenced in Ogle County to 9 years in prison for breaking into an Oregon home in December.

William J. Kirby, 35, pleaded guilty Jan. 25 to residential burglary. He also was ordered to pay more than $3,600 in fines and restitution.

According to court documents, Kirby broke into a home in the 400 block of South Third Street in Oregon on Dec. 3.

Police arrested Kirby 3 days later on an Ogle County warrant. His arrest came just 45 minutes after Kirby, masked and holding a pellet gun, robbed Cash for Gold, 1112 S. Galena Ave., in Dixon.

Kirby pleaded guilty to the charge Jan. 11.

His wife, Alyssa, 27, was sentenced Jan. 19 to 4 years of probation after pleading guilty to aggravated robbery for driving her husband away from the store after the robbery.

William Kirby has served multiple stints in prison dating back to 1995 for convictions such as burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, theft, aggravated battery, and possession of a controlled substance.
