Area preschool screenings announced for Bi-County
Comments (...)STERLING – Member school districts of the Bi-County Special Education Cooperative, which serves Carroll and Whiteside counties, will have free preschool screenings for this school year from February through April.
The screenings provide parents a measure of their child’s development in areas important to learning. For children with special needs, the cooperative offers a preschool program for those between 3 and 5. Some districts offer other preschool programs.
Parents with children between 2 years, 7 months and 5 years, 3 months as of this month may have their children screened at their local school district by appointment.
Parents need to accompany their child to the screening. Questions will be asked about the child’s development. Parents should feel free to bring along any baby books, immunization records or health history that could help them answer the questions.
Each child will be asked to do activities, such as stacking blocks, drawing and jumping. Children’s speech, language, vision and hearing also will be screened.
