Veterans need the support of the community

As a current guest of Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation and a World War II veteran who is finishing his period of rehabilitation, I will often think of my fellow members of all the wars as well as the civilian population. I wish to complete a void that exists currently – help.

During this period of questionable financial stability, I hope that the readers of the Telegraph could give financial, economic and spiritual support for a good cause. I speak for the brave men, such as I, and many others who placed their lives in jeopardy, with more than a half-million men who gave their lives for our country, as well as the Gold Star mothers, the orphans and for the spirit of America.

Let us pray that the people of Dixon could do their best to help during these poor economic times. I salute you all, the readers of the Telegraph, who have often supported worthy causes, and God bless America.

Note to readers – Basil F. Giaimo is a disabled American veteran and a World War II veteran who served under Gen. George Patton in France, Germany and the Battle of the Bulge.
