Full slate of community classes coming in February
DIXON – Business and community education classes are starting in February at Sauk Valley Community College, 173 state Route 2. Registration must be done in person at the Office of Admissions, room 1J1. All are one session unless otherwise noted. Call 815-835-6273 for more information.

Thursday: Windows 7-Level 2 & File Management, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.; $65.
Starting Monday: Crocheting 102-Afghans,10 a.m. to noon. Learn how to read a pattern and crochet an afghan, in six sessions; $50.
Monday: Internet, 12:30-5:30 p.m. Learn how to use your browser, manage history, cookies and more; $65.
Feb. 7: Urban Survival, 6-9 p.m. Learn how to prepare your family and home for a variety of disasters, in six sessions; $75.
Feb. 7: Making Sense of Retirement, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Learn the five-step planning process for preparing for retirement; $10.
Feb. 8: Email Only, 12:30-5:30 p.m. Learn how to maintain communication with email, transmission of spreadsheets and documents, filtering “junk;” $65.
Feb. 9: Excel 2010-Level 1 12:30-5:30 p.m. Learn the basics of spreadsheet operations, design, and layout; $65.
Feb. 9: Photoshop 2, 6-9 p.m. Learn how to use different tools and methods that will allow you to extract portions of images you wish to affect, in two sessions; $75.
Feb. 9: Secret Societies and Ancient Religions, 6-9 p.m. Explore topics such as 2012, Egyptian magic, Nostradamus and more, in six sessions; $75.
Feb. 13: Knitting 103-Socks, 6-8 p.m. Learn how to knit socks, in five sessions. Knowledge of basic knitting required; $50.
Feb. 14: Tax-Free Investing, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Learn the features, benefits, tax law implications and how to buy municipal bonds; $10.
Feb. 14-15: OSHA 10-hour General Industry Training, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m.-noon Wednesday. Learn the major provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act; $185.

Feb. 28: A Smart Start to Mutual Funds, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Understand the basics of mutual funds; $10.
Feb. 29: Wilton Cake Decorating-Decorating Basics, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Learn the basics of cake decorating, in two sessions; $60.
