Karaoke and bags

DIXON – The public is invited to VFW Post 540’s Blind Draw Bags Tournament at 7 tonight.

Admission is $10, partners will be drawn for the double-elimination tourney.

Cash prizes will be given to first through third places. Karaoke also starts at 7 p.m.

Wine and beer tasting

DIXON – The Dixon Knights of Columbus and The Crystal Cork Wine Shoppe will present a wine and beer tasting from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the KC hall, 506 W. Third St.

Thirty wines representing many local wineries will be sampled, and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. There also will be door prizes.

Tickets are $15 at Crystal Cork, 219 W. First St., or from Gary Gornik, 815-994-1368.

A little live music

Cal Stage band plays tonight and Saturday night at Champs Bar and Grill, 216 Locust St. in Sterling. Call 815-626-6003.

A little chamber music

CLINTON, Iowa – A concert featuring chamber music ensembles prepared by area musicians begins at 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church, 439 Third Ave. S., in Clinton.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students at Fitzgerald Pharmacy, 124 E. Main St., Morrison, and Grummert’s Hardware, 424 Locust St., Sterling, and at the door.

Visual arts in Dixon

DIXON – “Great Expectations,” a multimedia exhibit that explores common themes found in favorite books and movies, runs through Feb. 28 at The Next Picture Show, 113 W. First St.

The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and admission is free. Call 815-285-4924.

While in Dixon, check out the free exhibit of Les Allen photos on display at Sauk Valley Bank, 300 Walton Drive. It features 14 black-and-white large format, silver-based photographs from two genres: botanical and experimental still-life compositions.
