DIXON – E. William “Bill” Evans, 86, of Dixon, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in 1984 after 31 years.

He was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Dixon to Dr. L.R. and Neva (McCleary) Evans. Bill was a lifelong resident of Dixon. He was a member of St. Luke Episcopal Church and the Dixon Gyro Club.

Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed many retirement years hunting and fishing with his good friends. He spent the last 7 months of his life in the excellent care of the wonderful staff at Heritage Square. We will be forever grateful for their loving care.

Survivors include his son, Robert D. (Lynn) Pollom; grandchildren; a nephew; and two nieces.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Campbell Pollom Evans; his parents; and his brother, Dr. Robert H. Evans.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Kalebaugh officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.

A memorial fund has been established to Ducks Unlimited.
