Senior Anna Schaefer, 17, of Dixon, is Dixon High School’s December Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Lance and Kathleen Schaefer, and has two sisters, Alyssa, 20, and Abbey, 14.
Favorite class: Spanish is probably my favorite class because I enjoy being able to understand and speak another language. I would love to minor in Spanish once I’m in college.
Top teacher: Tom Padilla is my Advanced Placement Literature teacher. I love his style of teaching, which not only keeps me interested but also shows multiple points of view on one topic. He pushes you to think independently.
Extracurriculars: I dance 4 days out of the week and am involved in cheerleading, as well. I’m also involved in Student Council, B.L.I.N.D. and National Honor Society.
After graduation: I plan to go to a 4-year university to study communications or business. I’m also going to continue to dance at S&R Dance Studio in Freeport.
Paycheck: I work at the McDonald’s in Dixon. I do everything from taking money, handing out the food and taking orders. They are really good about working around my packed schedule.
Best friend: Lynae Merdian is a girl who I met through dance, and we’ve gotten really close over the last few years. We have twin personalities and can talk about everything with each other.
Favorite singer or musical group: It’s so hard to pick because I like so many different kinds of music. Justin Timberlake has always been a favorite, though.
Favorite actor: Johnny Depp.
Favorite TV shows: “That 70’s Show” and “Boy Meets World” definitely tie for my favorite TV shows.
Hobbies: Dance.
Favorite game or outdoor activity: I used to be pretty good at badminton when we had a net.
Favorite food: There’s no way to choose. Italian is probably my favorite type, however.
Other favorites: Forever 21 is my favorite store to shop at.
Biggest fear: Sharks, for sure.
Least favorite class: Calculus.
Haunts: I like to hang out at friends’ houses because I like being around people. I also have a dance room in my basement where I hang out and dance.
Survival guide: Finding something you love to do. Whether it’s sports, a club or a class, figure out a way to get involved and meet people.
Useless knowledge: I’ve never had to use a trig function outside of school so far, and I hope it stays that way.
I’m in the dictionary next to: I think dedicated would be a good word to describe myself. No matter what I’m doing, I try to make it count.
Secret twin: Hilary Duff and I share a birthday, so I’d say she’s my secret twin.
Personal trivia: I used to live right by the Wisconsin Dells as a kid.
Dream job: I would love to dance professionally in Los Angeles, and be able to travel.
Trading spaces: Either Ireland or England. I think Ireland is gorgeous, and England has a lot of history and awesome accents.
Read this: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” by J.K. Rowling. It’s the last book in the Harry Potter series, and I read it before I went to see the movie. I love all the books, so it was a good ending to the series.
Shout out to: I’m sure my parents will be seeing this so I’d like to say hi and thank you for all you do for me.
