Dixon woman charged with prostitution

Marrissa L. Henson

DIXON – A Dixon woman was in the Lee County Jail on Friday on a $3,000 bond after she met with an undercover officer in early November and agreed to perform a sex act in exchange for money, according to police.

Marrissa L. Henson, 21, of Dixon, turned herself in to police at 3 p.m. Friday and was charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor.

A court date has not been set.

Police launched an investigation into purported prostitution after receiving complaints from residents at an apartment complex on Marclare Street.

Police and agents from the Blackhawk Area Task Force made contact with several suspected prostitutes through a classifieds website Nov. 2 and arranged to meet Henson at a local fast-food restaurant, according to police.

Dixon Police Detective Sgt. Matt Richards said Henson has no connection to the Marclare apartment complex.

During the November sting, police also arrested Christine R. Shaw, 23, of Rockford. Shaw is free on bond and will appear in court Jan. 27.

It does not appear that the women are connected, according to police.
