DIXON – Lori A. Dewey, 52, of Dixon, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford, after a short battle with cancer. She worked at the Happy Steer in Amboy, had been the manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Dixon and had also worked at Donut World and Culver’s, both in Dixon.

She was born July 28, 1959, in Chicago, the daughter of Ronald and Marlys (Nelson) Wakild. She married Greg Dewey Dec. 6, 1980, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy.

Lori is survived by her husband of Dixon; children, Ramon Wakild, Tonya Dewey, Dana Dewey and Gregory Dewey, all of Dixon; 3 step-grandchildren, Mason, Timothy James and Rador Montgomery; her parents of Dixon, 3 sisters, Rhonda Wakild and Nancy (Jim) Johnson both of Bruce, Wis., and Christine (Dan) O’Brien of Dixon; and a brother, Richard Wakild of Dixon.

She was preceded in death by a nephew, Timothy O’Brien.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Frank Brozenec officiating.  

Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
