Farm Show set for December in Sterling

STERLING – The seventh annual Northwestern Illinois Farm Show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 9 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Westwood Sports Center, 1900 Westwood Drive.

The show is presented by the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, Whiteside County Farm Bureau and Sterling Park District.

Brian Basting of Advanced Trading Inc. will cover the supply and demand for corn and soybeans and an outlook for 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 9. Jason Strahm, Andy Wuethrich and Brent Kieser, all also of Advanced Trading Inc., will present “Practical Strategies for Success in a Volatile Market” at 1 p.m. that day. The presentations are sponsored by First Farm Credit Services.

4-H Day begins Dec. 10, with a variety of hands-on projects with National 4-H science experiments. Youth members will demonstrate a variety of projects, such as robotics, visual arts, food, entomology and clothing. A Kid’s Pedal Tractor Pull, sponsored by Carroll County Farm Bureau’s Young Leaders Committee will be at 11 a.m., with prizes awarded in four age divisions.
