Esther M. ‘Nana’ Nornhold

ROCK FALLS – Esther M. “Nana” Nornhold, 86, of Rock Falls, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. She worked for Sterling Pavilion for 17 years, retiring in 1991.

Esther was born March 6, 1925, in Princeton, the daughter of Joseph A. and Hazel L. (Beaber) Dean. She married Ralph P. Nornhold on May 19, 1946, in Mendota. He preceded her in death. She enjoyed being with her family and watching her grandchildren. She also enjoyed baseball and NASCAR.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Jesse) LeBarron of Tampico and Gladys (Leroy) Grooms of Rock Falls; one son, Monte (Doris) Nornhold of Rock Falls; nine grandchildren, Clinton (Pam) LeBarron, James (Jennifer Meiners) LeBarron, Lynetta Rourke, Jack (Sue) Grooms, Rory (Pam) Grooms, Jamie (Dale) Wilhite, Monte (Leanne) Grooms, Dawn Sutton and Melissa (Dave) Christiansen; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie (W.D.) Gowin of Emory, Texas, and Martha Fuller of Clinton, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Jesse Clinton and Jessie Renee LeBarron, both in infancy; three brothers, Danny, Leonard and Richard Dean; one sister, Dorothy Cook; and one sister-in-law, Joanne Dean.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Porter officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
