Amboy teacher arrested for rape, home invasion

DIXON – An Amboy High School teacher was being held without bond Friday night and charged with breaking into a Dixon woman’s house Thursday and raping her.

Jeffery K. Mischler, 26, of Hinckley, is charged with home invasion, a Class X felony punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison, and criminal sexual assault, punishable by 4 to 15 years in prison.

A jail official said Friday night that a judge may set bond today or Sunday.

Dixon Police received a report around 7:50 a.m. Friday from a woman on the southeast side of town who said she had been sexually assaulted.

Detective Sgt. Matt Richards said the suspect forced his way into her house, but declined to say how he broke in.

Mischler became a suspect after police learned that the two had been together that night, Richards said.

He declined to say how the two know each other. The woman was not seriously injured in the incident, Richards said.

Police arrested Mischler around 3 p.m. at a gas station in Somonauk, where he agreed to meet them.

According to the Amboy School District website, Mischler teaches social studies and is a boy’s wrestling coach.

Amboy High School Principal Jeff Thake could not be reached for comment Friday night.
