Roger D. Bass

ROCK FALLS – Roger D. Bass, 62, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at SwedishAmerican Hospital, Rockford. He worked at Rock Falls Park District.

Roger was born Nov. 17, 1948, in Sterling, the son of Joseph Dean and Dorothy Catherine (Sands) Bass. He reconciled with his wife, Nancy, in January of 2007. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed riding his bicycle and spending time with his family. He served in the Navy. He was a devoted father, grandfather and brother, and will be missed.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Amanda (Linwood) Chattic and Wendy Hubbard, both of Sterling, and Tonya (Tom) Parker of Oklahoma; one brother, Ellis E. Bass of Sterling; six grandchildren, Christian, McKenzie, Christina, Cannon, Caleb and Kaih; one niece, Jennifer (Joseph) Turner; one great-niece, Jemm Finn; and one great-nephew, Benjamin Turner.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Friendship Temple of Jesus Christ, Sterling. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Lonnie Chattic, pastor, officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.

Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
