Craigslist solicitation results in two arrests

ROCK FALLS – An Amboy man and woman are in the Whiteside County Jail, charged with blackmailing a Rock Falls man and prostituting the woman through Craigslist.

Illinois State Police, with the assistance of Rock Falls Police and the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department, on Thursday arrested Christopher L. Donaldson, 23, and Tiffany M. Dales, 21.

Donaldson is charged with intimidation, punishable by 2 to 5 years in prison; theft of between $500 and $10,000, punishable by 2 to 5 years in prison; and pandering, punishable by 1 to 3 years in prison.

Dales is charged with intimidation, theft, and prostitution, a misdemeanor.

Bond was set Friday at $75,000 for Donaldson and $50,000 for Dales. Both have a preliminary hearing Feb. 24.

According to a State Police news release, Donaldson and Dales met the man through Craigslist, a website that feature free online classified advertisements.

Court documents show that sometime between June and November, Donaldson “arranged a situation in which [Dales] might practice prostitution” for $60 or more through the website and by telephone.

The man contacted Dales, and they eventually met, according to police. Court documents show that Dales agreed to engage in sexual acts with the man for $60 or more.

Court documents also show that sometime between November and Feb. 17, Donaldson and Dales blackmailed the man for $7,000 and said that if he didn’t pay, they would tell police that the man raped Dales.

State Police Sgt. Jerome Castillo declined comment.
