Rock Island woman killed in rural Thomson crash

THOMSON – An 84-year-old Rock Island woman died Thursday in a multi-vehicle crash in rural Thomson.

According to a news release from the Whiteside County Sheriff, Joyce Livengood, 84, was southbound on state Route 84, just north of Covell Road, at about 9:15 p.m. when she crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a car driven by Dale E. Kramer, 46, of Chadwick.

She then struck a tractor-trailer driven by Joseph L. Lameyer, 38, of Freeport.

Livengood’s car ended up in a ditch; she was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals, where she died.

No other injuries were reported.

No further details were available Monday.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
