DIXON – Jacqueline J. “Jackie” Ballard, 86, of Dixon, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, one day after her 50th wedding anniversary.

She was born May 6, 1924, in Mason City, Iowa, to Thomas and Jesse (Phelps) Kilfoil. She was employed as a bookkeeper in the Rochelle area, and was a homemaker for the last 37 years. She lived in several places in the Midwest, including Rochelle, White Pines State Park, Grand Detour, and Lost Nation.

She was a member of Rochelle Community Hospital Auxiliary, KSB Hospital Auxiliary and the Business and Professional Women’s Association. She married Charles “Chuck” Ballard on Sept. 3, 1960, in Franklin Grove.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck; one daughter, Billie (Neil) O’Malley of Belvidere; one son, Thomas Ballard of Dixon; six granddaughters, Catherine (Mike) Dummer of Middleton, Wis., Colleen (Gregg) Petrosky of Sterling, Mary (Greg) Pippert of St. Cloud, Minn., Ellen O’Malley Petry and Jennifer Ballard, both of Rochelle, and Jane (Scott) Loos of Wausau, Wis.; and 12 great-grandchildren, Abby, Patrick, Taylor, David, Molly, Katie, Mitchell, Margaret, Nora, Eliza, Isaac and Logan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Liola Mary “Mandy” Wendel.

Prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home, Dixon, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne Catholic Church, Dixon, with the Rev. James Keenan officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Plainview Cemetery, Mount Morris. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with Scripture service at 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to St. Anne School Library and KSB Hospice.
