STERLING – A judge Thursday ruled there was not enough evidence to charge Rick A. Lehman, 21, of Rock Falls, in at least 19 car vandalisms in late April in Sterling.

Four counts of criminal damage to property were dismissed by Whiteside County Associate Judge Michael Albert during a preliminary hearing Thursday.

Lehman was released from the Whiteside County Jail, where he had been held since his arrest Aug. 24.

Two other men, Brian L. Harts, 21, of Sterling, and Robert P. Bellows, 21, of Rock Falls, are charged in the car vandalisms.

Bellows has a preliminary hearing Thursday; Harts has a pretrial conference Sept. 29.
